As Uganda gears up for the 2026 general elections, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially unveiled the NRM 2026–2031 manifesto. A political blueprint designed to guide the country’s next five years. The launch, held at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, drew government officials, NRM leaders, and the media, underscoring the significance of the event in shaping Uganda’s political and economic future.

The manifesto, presented under the theme “Protecting the Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into a High Middle Income Status,” reflects the ruling party’s focus on consolidating past achievements while addressing challenges that still hold back national transformation. With its emphasis on security, economic growth, and good governance, the document aims to reassure Ugandans of stability while promising new opportunities in wealth creation, jobs, and infrastructure development.

The manifesto highlights six key areas:

FORTEBET

Peace & Security – strengthening UPDF and stability.

Wealth & Jobs – boosting agriculture, ICT, and industrialization.

Infrastructure – roads, energy, oil, and digital expansion.

Social services & human capital – Improving Health, education, and social protection.

Good Governance – fighting corruption and enforcing accountability.

Regional Integration – strengthening trade and diplomacy.

NRM spokesperson Emmanuel Dombo stressed that the document is not about “empty promises,” but a contract with citizens based on what has been achieved and what’s realistic.

The launch comes days after Museveni was nominated as the NRM presidential flagbearer. With opposition leaders like Bobi Wine also entering the race, the manifesto sets the stage for an intense campaign season.
