The Electoral Commission (EC) has extended the application deadline for recruitment of Biometric Voter Verification Kit (BVVK) Trainers under short-term contract employment for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
According to the updated external job advert, the new deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, 25th November 2025, extending the earlier closing date to allow more eligible candidates to apply.
The Commission is recruiting 1,050 BVVK Trainers, with three positions per county, to be deployed at District Electoral Commission Offices across the country. Successful applicants will report to the District Returning Officer or the Head of the IT Department, depending on assignment.
The recruitment is part of EC’s preparations to ensure effective training and deployment of the Biometric Voter Verification System (BVVS) during the 2026 General Elections.
BVVK Trainers will be responsible for training biometric voter verification kit operators and providing technical IT support throughout the election process. Their duties include preparing training environments, developing and updating training materials, conducting training sessions, and explaining technical concepts in simple, understandable terms.
Trainers will also offer one-on-one support to trainees, troubleshoot technical issues during training and polling days, assess trainee progress, collect feedback, maintain training records, and document incidents for reporting to supervisors. In addition, they will assist in system testing, simulation exercises, and provide on-site technical support at polling stations.
Applicants must possess a minimum of a Diploma from a recognized institution. A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Computing, or related fields is considered an added advantage.
Additional advantages include experience in training or capacity building, familiarity with Android smart devices, and prior exposure to election technology systems such as BVVS. Applicants must also be registered voters in their district of choice.
The Electoral Commission is seeking candidates with strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to train and support non-technical staff. Applicants must demonstrate high integrity, commitment to confidentiality, and willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
The BVVK Trainer engagement will last three months, covering the pre-election, election day, and post-election periods, with specific deployment timelines to be determined by the Commission.
Interested applicants are required to submit typed applications with a comprehensive curriculum vitae, copies of certified academic transcripts and certificates, a copy of the National Identification Card, and two passport-size photographs. Applications must also include contact details of three referees and daytime telephone numbers registered in the applicant’s name.
Applications must be hand-delivered to the respective District Election Administrator and clearly marked:
“Application for the post of Biometric Voter Verification Kit Trainer.”
The final deadline for submission is Tuesday, 25th November 2025.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified through notices pinned at the offices of District Election Administrators or Returning Officers, indicating interview dates and venues. The Electoral Commission reiterated that it is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encouraged all qualified persons to apply.
