KAMPALA — Famous Journalist Solomon Serwanjja has announced that he will be exiting service at Next Media Services’ top station NBS Television.
The news anchor and investigative reporter said he will leave the Naguru-based station on July 31 to focus on his new role as Executive Director at the African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ).
The African Institute for Investigative Journalism is an institute rooted in the ideas of investigative reporting with an aim of providing investigative journalism in Uganda and on the continent a dignified home.
Serwanja shared the news on Tuesday, July 13 through his social media account on Twitter https://twitter.com/SolomonSerwanjj/status/1414838406539055104.
“On 31st July, I will be leaving @nbstv,” he wrote.
“It has been such an honor to serve for the last 6 years. Thank you @KKariisa and the entire @nextmediaug family for the support”.
“I will now focus on my new role as the Executive Director @AfricanIIJ, the home of investigative journalism” Serwanja posted.
In 2019 Serwanjja was awarded the Komla Dumor Award, an annual award given by the BBC to celebrate African journalists for their exclusive performance.
Serwanjja is also a United Nations Reham al-Farra Memorial Journalism fellow 2018 and has worked as a news anchor and reporter for several television stations in East Africa including NBS TV, KTN News, NTV Uganda, UBC TV.
