Uganda’s Airbus in SouthAfrica Oliver Tambo Airport. Uganda Airlines sent one of its two rare Airbus A330-800neos on a demonstration flight from Entebbe to Johannesburg, South Africa as one of the mechanisms in the process of securing an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
Graha Details has learned that Uganda Airlines’ Airbus A330 had a smooth and safe landing at Johannesburg Oliver Tambo International Airport yesterday amidst jubilations and ululations.
The aircraft took off from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) with a limited number of passengers at 11:56 am local time on Thursday and landed at O.R Tambo in South Africa.
The seven-month-old aircraft, registered as 5X-NIL, has increased operational efficiency and superior passenger comfort.
The Airline will launch its direct and long-range operations with non-stop intercontinental flights from Entebbe to the Middle East, Europe, and Asia -in particular London, Dubai, and Guangzhou.
The A330neo cabin offers a unique passenger experience with more personal space and the latest generation in-flight entertainment system and connectivity.
Aboard the Uganda Airlines Airbus, the guests will not miss Ugandan products including the country’s local foods as a means to promote the ‘Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy. These are served by the national carrier flight attendants to strategically position and market the country’s potential as the Pearl of Africa and a tourism niche.
The A330neo uses technology developed for the A350 powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and features a new wing with increased span and A350-inspired Sharklets with an unprecedented level of efficiency of 25% less fuel per seat than the previous generation competitors.
It features an Airbus’ Airspace cabin; passengers can enjoy a unique experience and explore its full comfort with 20 full-flat, business-class beds, 28 premium-economy seats, and 210 economy-class seats, totaling 258 seats.
The airline which officially commenced operations in August 2019, has a fleet consisting of four CRJ-900 regional jets that have 20 lie-flat seats in business class, 28 seats in premium economy, and 210 in the main economy cabin.
