ADF rebels are still active in Uganda -Enanga. Since the deadly twin bombing attacks occurred at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala and on Parliament Avenue leaving very many injured and others dead, the joint counter-terror teams have continued to mitigate, prevent, disrupt, and dismantle plans by terrorists and extremists, local extremists to attack Ugandans and other citizens in the country.
According to the Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, on the 16th of January, our teams conducted the search operation in Katende Kiwamirembe Kiringa’ente subcounty in Mpigi district in the homes of Ssenkungu Siraj and Kataza Muzafaru members of the deadly terror group the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the presence of the local council one leaders.
“We managed to recover an assortment of exhibit of material value, including SMG, AK 47 with 16 live ammunitions, two logbooks of motorcycles under registration number UEX 534B and UEP 189X, a green jacket, instruction material, amongst others,” Enanga said.
The arrests further indicate that members of the ADF terror network are still present. Most of them have gone into hiding but they still possess dangerous weapons that are concealed in line with the ideological motive of causing fear, harm and violence against Ugandans and other citizens in the country, he added.
“So these motorcycles we are talking about are new. This shows that they still have plans of attacking Ugandans, other facilities and installations because previously we have seen them use the Ride-Along attacks as a method of causing violence against Uganda.”
Enanga has reminded Ugandans and citizens in the country that terror threats are real and remnants of the ADF are still active. As a result, each and everyone should remain vigilant and extra cautious as they go about their daily activities.
The joint counter-terror teams, joint intelligence organs, the investigative and operational units have a high level of dedication and commitment to fight against all forms of terrorism in the country.
