In my opinion, violence doesn’t at any time build peace but yet destabilize development. On many occasions, the president has been elaborating on one fact that “peace usher development”. This is absolutely true. Don’t we admire a middle-income status as a country?
Our progress would be so meaningful if we put to rest violence. In fact now is the time for us all, to join the National Resistance Movement (NRM) despite our religious views, cultural views, and political views to realize our dream of a middle-income country as it is the focus of the government now. I truly share in a dream of middle-income status.
Far from our different ideologies and political views, there is an urgent need for unity for the growth of the country and the common good of every citizen and I think coming together in support of the programs and policies that lead us to a realization of a middle-income country would be a step in the right direction.
On several occasions, His Excellency the President of Uganda has reminded countrymen and women -the bazukulu; of the history of our country and how instabilities, lack of peace, and concentration in ideological differences than development delayed both local and international investors from making income venture in the country as well as giving guidance on the NRM insight to achieving an all-round development.
President Museveni has also severally reiterated that part of what dragged the country is concentrating on differences in tribes, religion, other than development. Sadly these differences still have roots in our country.
In my opinion, we ought to accept that peace is a primary need for any development and we must work towards it in unison to denounce and condemn all sources of insecurity in and to our country which is a responsibility of every citizen.
Security personnel and institutions should be left to do investigations into crime and for I think our country’s intelligence system is fairly well established and they have several classified information that guides their action or reaction and so I find it very unhealthy to bring in a thought that a religion, a tribe or a particular group of people is being incriminated or persecuted but rather appealing that we allow them crackdown sources of insecurity in our country. We all need peace, just like we all need to be involved in building peace or condemning any crime whatsoever that undermines peace which was “Bought at a high price”.
In my view, far from perceiving that security agencies work on targets, we should rather consider spreading the urgent and very demanding need for peace in our country today if we are to make reality a dream for a middle-income status. This I think would mean that we have to get involved in causing a mindset change especially to those who compromise the life of the citizens and the security of the country.
I wish to suggest that, religious leaders, cultural leaders, Political leaders, Civic leaders, and all of us “compose” a unison song of peace and condemnation, murder by planting bombs, and other forms of killings.
I also just like recently the president advised; my fellow citizens, fellow bazukulu to consider rejecting getting involved in such brutal and barbaric acts that undermine our peace and security as a country before the long arm of the law catches or reaches your door.
Why would you accept to participate in a suicide bombing because someone gave you money? How do you benefit when you off life- a precious gift of God for money? Surely we can cause a change and now is the time to cause the change!
