UPDF breaks silence on soliciting money to bail out Gen Kandiho. The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso has warned the general public on the financial scam that is going on purporting to solicit funds to bail out Maj Gen Abel Kandiiho.
According to a press release dated January 4th 2022, signed by Brig Byekwaso which this Online Publication has got a copy of, the UPDF has noted with concern that there are some unscrupulous fraudsters mobilizing financial support to bail out the Chief of Military Intelligence Maj Gen Abel Kandiiho in the wake of the questionable sanctions put on him by the Government of the United States of America.
Brig Byekwaso said that 2 cases have been registered and are currently under investigation because the two fraudsters have been obtaining money by false pretence from unsuspecting friends of Maj Gen Kandiiho.
Without naming the two fraudsters, Brig Byekwaso warned the general public not to engage in such practice urging them to report to the Police anyone found attempting to solicit such funds.
It should be remembered that last month, students purported to be from Makerere University who identified themselves to be Pan Africans led by Mixson Muhwezi marched to the US Embassy in Nsambya near Kampala claiming that they wanted to present a petition to the US Ambassador over Gen Kandiiho’s sanctions.
It’s now not clear if it’s the same group of people that are going around soliciting funds to bail out Gen Kandiiho.
