KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda’s preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027 have entered a significant new phase, with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) intensifying efforts to identify businesses that will supply goods and services for one of Africa’s largest sporting and commercial events.
The procurement process began earlier this year when the Uganda LOC, through a press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre on 18 May 2026, announced that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had issued a Request for Information (RFI) inviting potential suppliers from across Africa to express interest in joining CAF’s database of prospective service providers for AFCON PAMOJA 2027.
This signalled that preparations for the tournament had moved beyond infrastructure and planning into the commercial phase where businesses would begin positioning themselves for opportunities arising from the continental championship. This exercise is intended to identify competent service providers ahead of competitive procurement processes, with some Requests for Proposals by CAF expected to begin from the first week of August 2026.
Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the LOC said the registration exercise, which began at the start of July, is expected to close at the end of the month. It also said the deadline may be extended if necessary, while re-announcing that it is currently receiving expressions of interest from qualified Ugandan businesses seeking pre-qualification to provide goods and services for AFCON PAMOJA 2027 activities.
For many businesses, the exercise represents one of the earliest opportunities to become part of the supply chain for a tournament expected to attract thousands of players, officials, media practitioners, commercial partners and football supporters from across the continent and beyond.
According to the LOC, suppliers will be required across a wide range of sectors including hospitality, accommodation, catering, transport and logistics, information and communication technology, media and communications, digital content production, branding, medical services, safety and security, event management, consultancy, documentary production, fan park management, souvenir production and office supplies, among others.
Registration is free of charge and is being conducted through the official AFCON PAMOJA Uganda supplier registration portal, with the exercise set to close at the end of the month. Businesses that complete the pre-qualification process will be eligible to participate in procurement opportunities that the LOC expects to begin rolling out between September and October this year.
To qualify, applicants must be legally registered in Uganda, listed with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA), financially sound, tax-compliant, and free of any records of litigation or non-performance. The LOC has also emphasised that its procurement activities will strictly follow CAF’s Procurement Policy in fulfilment of obligations contained in the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Host Agreement signed by the Government of Uganda.
At the same time, the committee clarified that not every procurement opportunity connected to AFCON 2027 will be managed locally. Certain specialised services, including ticketing and television broadcasting, will be procured directly by CAF through a single supplier arrangement covering all PAMOJA host countries. Similarly, procurement for activities implemented by individual Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will remain the responsibility of those institutions rather than the Local Organising Committee.
AFCON PAMOJA 2027 supplier registration presents a major economic opportunity for local businesses as a pathway for Ugandan companies to participate in one of Africa’s largest sporting events as preparations continue across the host nations to make the tournament a success.
